Introduction: Femoral hernias are a rare cause of inguinal swelling in children (1-6). Consequently, they are usually not included in the differential diagnosis of inguinal masses and are discovered incidentally during surgery for a presumed inguinal hernia (1,2,7). The following case illustrates the typical clinical presentation of a femoral hernia in children and is followed by a review of our current understanding of this condition.
